Appeared in the film 'Spymaker: The Secret Life of Ian Fleming' a 1990 TV biographical film of the life of Ian Fleming, creator of the popular James Bond spy character, retracing his playboy youth, his expulsion from various colleges, his experiences as a newspaper writer and his tour of duty for the British intelligence agency during World War II where it is portrayed as Flemings personal car. Played by Jason Connery, son of Sean Connery, the actor who helped make Bond an icon in the films made in the 1960s.

This car was owned by Tom Rose.
According to B.S. Downes, 2007 owner of Chassis no.
PB3537, Tom Rose lent YW 5758, his 'works team car', to then Chassis PB3537 owner Dr Paul Hummel who was having bodywork done on his car to help "reproduce the body exactly".

According to original Vanden Plas Coachbuilder records, this car was originally fitted with Body No. 1502 with a Sports body as being made for 1928 Le Mans; fabric /black; £215; 6/1928. Team Car driven by Cook. Michael Hay, in his book Bentley: The Vintage Years, 1997, states: "D/7002. Vanden Plas body no.1502. Built as 1928 Le Mans model. 30 gallon tank and Brooklands silencer." But chassis no. credited to ch. SL 3053. presumably the frame in SL 3053 was the original 5/32" frame before this chassis rebuilt on the heavier 3/16" frame after the 1928 Le Mans." |
