"I met Mr Nicholson in the late 1970s / early 1980s. He had owned the car since about 1954. It was in wonderful original condition, and had been his everyday car.
It had not been on the road for a few years as his wife found it too heavy to drive, so he bought a 1950s Rolls-Royce Wraith.
I was saddened to read that the car was rebodied as a tourer in the 1990s but there was little demand for saloons at that time. I understand that the body may still exist, so there is a chance that it will be reunited with its chassis one day.
At the time I met Mr Nicholson, he owned a 4.5 tourer as well (possibly two) and other cars, all housed in a glass fronted semi circular garage."
