| More Info: | Chassis no. HF3187 (Reg. no. YU 3250) was originally supplied to B. Rubin as a standard 4� Litre. It was supercharged for Rubin, raced as a team car, and then rebuilt on chassis no. HB3404R; a standard 4� Litre was then sold by Rubin to Bevan with chassis no. HF 3187, registered YU 3250. (Refer to May, 1976 issue of BDC Review) This car was purchased by Dorothy Paget new for Tim Birkin to race. Michael Hay, in his book Bentley: The Vintage Years, 1997, states: "In South Africa with original body. Chassis number confusion with HF 3187 (HB 3404/R). From Service records new S/C type cyl block sent to Friary Motors 17/6/35 then 12/7/36 "1 S/H S/C type cyl block sent to R S Mead" ?sent to HB 3404/R as a S/C block would not fit this early engine (different stud pitches)." |
