"The car was built for Mr Adcock to race after the War. He was believed to be a Spitfire Pilot by Fred Hofman. He was the legendary Pre-War Bentley tuner and of Hofman and Burton / Mountford fame. The car was also owned and raced by Barry Eastick then Harold (Spitfire) Pounds who added a Spitfire water pump on lowering the radiator, raced by daughter Dane Scott-Brown. It was briefly owned by Ed Hubbard and was passed via Stanley Mann to Adam Stacy-Marks who then owned and campaigned the car for the next 25-plus years."

"Dear Sir,
With reference to GO 5629, I have submitted some images of Bentley 1930 4½ litre GO 5629 whilst in my ownership.
I purchased the car from Ed Hubbard via Stanley Mann in 1988 and gradually rebuilt and modified the car for campaigning in a number of different disciplines and events. When purchased, it had an alloy unpainted finish and was on a 9ft shortened chassis with a piece of chassis removed from behind the radiator and replaced ahead. This was unmodified and lengthened to 9' 9" enabling an overdrive to be fitted for long distance rallies. The "A" box was converted to "D" spec. The heavy crank car ran on white metal mains and shell big ends and was regularly rev’d to 4000 rpm. It was painted specifically to gain entry into the Mille Miglia.
In 1988 I raced the car at Oulton Park, Prescott Hill Climb, Silverstone, Cadwell Park
1989 Silverstone (2), Monthlery, Donington, Oldtimers Grand Prix, Nurburgring
1990 Silverstone (2)
1991 Silverstone (2) Wiscombe Park H.C, Monthlery, Cadwell Park (VSCC) Eiffel Classic Nurburgring
1992 Monthlery
1993 Wiscombe Park, Cornbury, Aubusson and LeMans Bentley Commemoration, Monthlery
1994 Monthlery, BDC Silverstone, Croix-en Ternois
1995 Silverstone (2), Millbrook
1996 Silverstone (2) Cornbury Sprint, Millbrook, Abingdon Sprint, Nurburgring
1997 Year off!!
1998 Nurburgring
1998 Monthlery
1999 Monthlery, Etretat Hill Climb, Zandvoort
2000 on-to the car being sold 2009 — the car was continually raced at events home and abroad to include Spa-Francorchamps, Chimay, Angouleme. It was also campaigned on the Winter Marathon 3 times and completed the Millie Miglia sucessfully. It entered generally some 3-5 events per annum.
From c. 1995 on the car was serviced, maintained and developed by Tony Fabian of Blackmore Engineering-Shoreham by Sea U.K
Hope this is of interest."

"Photo of GO 5629 entering the Ballroom at the Dorchester Hotel London. Re the Bentley GO 5629 I find it interesting that the oval hatch and lid have been retained in the boot section of the car.
This is where I sat as a young child when traveling with my parents to the various race meetings. No safety belt just a piece of foam rubber for protection against the hard metal edge."
