"First owner: Major Rainshaw Rothwell.
The Vanden Plas Order Number 1247 for Chassis "Bentley 1490", dated 22 December 1925, states:
Standard 4 seater Sports
Hood, Hood Cover & Tonneau Cover in Grey Mohair
Body & Bonnet in Willey's Pale Auto Grey
Wings & Bonnet in Manders Dutch Green
Green Leather to match wings.
Today, AH1490 is still fitted with VDP Body 1247 and all its original numbered parts, probably because it remained "in bad condition" without attention and unused for decades until it was rescued about 30 years ago."

"This car was owned by Richard Rainshaw Rothwell of Broomriggs, Near Sawrey, (near Hawkshead) in the Lake District. It would have been kept for 2 years in a wooden garage and then a more substantial garage was constructed in 1928, two years afer delivery. Richard died in 1933 and it is likely that it would have been sold sometime in the 4 years following that. As of Sept 2017 the garage looks the same as it would have done over 90 years ago although it has planning permission to be converted into a dwelling so if you want to see it you will have to be quick!!"
