This car is 3 litre chassis 996. During the November 2010 Silver Ghost Association Tour of the North Island of New Zealand, the group visited a well known Rolls Royce collection, which included this original 3 litre. I believe the car has never been restored. One note of interest is revealed in the last photo which shows the front axle. Note the number is stamped as 669 as viewed, and would read (a mirrored) '699' if seen from the rear. It seems most likely that this was just a stamping error by the building mechanic, who should have inverted his stamps to read 996!
