"A Gardner diesel-engined Bentley (Bentley with a 4LW Gardner)"
Comment by Biglorryblog (March 2011) found on CommercialMotor website:
Brian Lomas has sent me this and he says: "In the recent post re the Foden Engine in a Mercedes car Vic Hungerford mentioned a Bentley with a 4LW Gardner. These pics support his memory cells!!! T'other Brian." Well of course if I was being uncharitable I might say it's because Vic's old enough to remember it! But I won't...as that would be un-gentlemanly (and he's also more than capable of thumping me if I did) Now click through here... Mind you, it would have probably have spoilt the sophisticated aura of a Bentley when the driver started it up and promptly enveloped everyone in a great cloud of white smoke! Not quite the done thing at Ascot I would have thought...?

"Dear Vintage Bentley Register, These two photos were found in a charity shop job lot of family photos relating to the Creeth and Porter families (Isle of Wight / Saffron Walden) but the connection with the car is unknown. Perhaps one of the family members was a chauffeur. Date and location of photos also unknown!"
