"My father-in-law Patrick Skelton (who died about five years ago) had bought this car from David Yule in 1955. My wife and I came into possession of the car around December 2006. The car was in a very bad state at the time as nothing had been done on it all those years.

The car has been under restoration with Charles Palmer of Classic Restorations (Scotland) for the last three years. The engine has been completely rebuilt and now running for the first time in over 60 years. The body which I purchased in 2007 is an original Freestone & Webb Tourer, and it needs total refurbishment which is being carried out at the moment. It came from a Bentley in Strasbourg — I believe 1928 Chassis No. DN1734.

I have a full record of its progress to date "

This standard car was raced at the Phoenix Park in 1934 in stripped form as owner David Yule's usual racer probably broke and he was making up the numbers. (Have a small snap of this I will try to send at a later date.)

Correction:
"I stated before (on this page below) that the original owner David Yule had raced the car at Phoenix Park, however I have now discovered that he in fact drove another 3 litre stripped for the race not his own one. 537 had a 2 seater and dickey type wide body originally painted yellow and there was a small oil painting of it. However I have Yule's family photograph album which shows him at speed in another 3 litre. Great to see it so well restored now. Yule was a well known racer in his Morris Special and Austin Ulster and we assumed he drove his own 3L." - Eddie Bourke, Feb 08, 2016
