1924 Bentley 3 Litre ST D/H Coupe
Chassis No. 465
Engine No. 468 / AP 325
Registration No. XR 1751
"Year: 1924
Chassis no: 465; Engine no: AP325; Registration no: XR1751
The car was built on a new English chassis (one of 250) in 1999 by Rod Warriner, the Vanden Plas tourer body with blade wings by Tom Peach. The Speed Model engine, AP325, came out to Australia in the '60's in Chassis 649 together with original engine 650, this car was rebuilt by Warriner and the first owner, my cousin John Whiting, then reunited engine 650 with chassis 649, engine AP325 went to Jim Duncan in Queensland and I bought 649 from Whiting.
It is possible the Austin 7 surpasses the Vintage Bentley in rebuilding and hotting-up, but not by much. Having foolishly sold chassis 649 after 14 years I had to have another and so 465 came into my hands in November 2009.
Now, advancing age and indifferent health mean that I can no longer exercise the car as much as I should, she will easily attain 85 miles per hour and cruises reliably at 70. Condition is excellent, not far off concours and all the jewellery is original... I am prepared to discuss the price."
Asking price: AUD275,000 or offer
This car is for sale as of Feb 8, 2013
