Bentley Speed Model 1925, original Van den Plas body. Original engine built to 4.5 litres with all new components inside. New 'A' gears, overdrive, 4.5 ltr steering ratio, larger capacity petrol tank.
Maintained regardless of cost (over £50,000 in past 5 years) so that it is a real Rally car. When the engine was built, new crank, rods, gears, pistons, shellbearings, etc. New gears in A box, overdrive fitted, double shockers, Blockley tyres, new wheels and hubs, new tank which is 50% bigger.

Having been in the long term ownership of a well known BDC member it has been maintained regardless of cost and its specifications include: Engine converted to 4 Litre by VBE restorations; - Bosch mags, new 'A' gears, overdrive, new wheels, hubs, brakes and spinners. 4½ steering ratio and fuel tank, touring trunk, double shock absorbers, Blockley tyres. The blade wings and Carl Zeiss headlamps plus very fine nickel plating make this an outstanding attractive car.

This is an example of the most famous of the 3-litre Bentleys, the short-chassis Speed Model, better known as the Red Label. It carries four-seater open sports coachwork in the classic idiom, with hood, single-panel screen, and rear-mounted spare wheel. There are flared wings and full-length running-boards, and the handbrake lever is mounted outside the body.
Though the style of the body is essentially that of Vanden Plas, the coachbuilder is not known. It is, however, believed to be original in all essentials, since it was on the car in a very rough state when the vehicle came into the hands of the present owner some six years ago. It has been professionally rebuilt, and recovered in vinyl in place of the original leather fabric. The wings, however, are known to be non-original. No modifications have been made to the mechanical specification, though the car has been rebuilt throughout. Condition is described as excellent, and commensurate with a total mileage of only 800-odd since the completion of all this work.
