15th July 1950. David Chapman in MKN 841, chassis KM3089, chasing Syd Lawrence in VMF 944 in Race 3 for short chassis 4.5L cars at Silverstone. Finished 8th place in 7min 14 sec. VMF 944 has engine No. KM3088, previously in chassis KM3089 (MKN 841), the chassis number is only given as 102/50ML (ML stands for ML Motors, Syd Lawrence's business at the time) so I can't give the true chassis number of VMF 944. (Confused? The photo shows a chassis chasing its original engine!)
I understand that Syd Lawrence shortened chassis KM3089 and swapped it with David Chapman for Chassis HF3185, registered YV9608. The shortened chassis KM3089 was built into a road / race car registered MKN 841 by David Chapman using the engine and many components from Chassis HF3185.
